Many philosphers and religious thinkers from time immemorial have tried to reconcile the issue of freedom of the individual and a determined destiny. Many questions revolve around this issue: What is fate? What is determinism? Is there free will and how free is the will? Can we direct our will? How can we live in consonance with the divine will? By a proper understanding of the logic and mechanisms of the law of cause and effect, the answers to these questions become easier to comprehend. We are thereby able to understand a sense of purpose in our lives. This sense of purpose gives our various activities the stamp of direction and confidence. In the pages of this publication, authorities of the past and present address many pertinent questions regarding free will and destiny. Their wisdom can help to dissolve our difficulty with these important concepts so that we can make use of our freedom for the benefit of ourselves and others.
