General note Sounds and their patterns in Indic languages presents the phonological properties of Indic languages at the word level including inventories and distribution of phonemes allophones syllable structures and tones. The general properties of the sound patterns of 148 languages from a total of eight groups as well as their phonological sketches are presented keeping the interest of these fields in view.
