The book Introduction to World Religions promotes a better understanding of the religions of the world, their similarities and history of amicable co-existence. It does not speak about theology, but it is a book that tells about the history of religions. The book highlights and criticizes problems that have erupted due to increasing religious fundamentalism and intolerance. It criticizes the Muslim fundamentalism which has destroyed peace in Palestine, Afghanistan, Lebanan, Iraq, Spain, Somalia, Kashmir, Southern Thailand, etc. In Muslim countries there is a conflict between the secularists, moderates and the fundamentalists. The book also talks about the Hindu fundamentalism, Jewish fundamentalism and Christian fundamentalism and promotes the ideology that only understanding and tolerance can save the people of the world from being in constant conflict. It emphasizes better understanding and amicable co-existence of all religions.
